Monday Mythical Creatures

(Greek: Laimos: Gullet)

  • Lamia literally means 'Large Shark' in Greek
  • Has the upper body of a woman and lower body of a serpent
  • Lamia was the grandaughter of Poseidon and Lybie, later after she became queen of Libya she had an affair with Zeus. Hera angry at her husbands affair killed the children Lamia and Zeus had together. Insane with grief Lamia started devouring other children.
  • Later stories state that Lamia was cursed with the inability to close her eyes so that she would always obsess over the image of her dead children.
  • Other facts say Zeus gave her the ability to take out her eyes and put them back in.

Lamia In Books

Aw, wow you've been doing depressing mythical creatures. xD Not that that's bad - the mythology behind the lamia is very fascinating. But yeah, I've never read a book featuring a lamia. Would be cool though. :)

this creature is scary but fascinating! i agree with Kristina, it would be cool to read a book that featured one either as a protagonist or antagonist! glad you're back Jessica! c",)

I think everything posted made a ton of sense.
But, what about this? what if you were to write a awesome post title?
I mean, I don't wish to tell you how to run your website, however
suppose you added something that grabbed folk's
attention? I mean "Monday Mythical Creatures" is a little plain.
You could glance at Yahoo's front page and see how they create news titles to get people to click.
You might add a video or a related picture or two to get people excited about
everything've got to say. In my opinion, it might bring
    your website a little livelier.
