Author Bio

J.E. & M. Keep love to combine fantasy, scifi, horror, romance and mystery into exciting and titillating novels.

They are long term, loving partners in a very happy relationship and because of this, they love to torture their characters. Dark romance touches all of their stories in one way or another, from elicit trysts to forbidden love.

Some of their work contains dubious consent and erotic pain, so it's not for the faint of heart. Their stories are often called twisted and arousing -- at the same time.

All work is 18+, trigger warnings available on the second page of every book. If you want to hear about new releases, sign up for the newsletter!

WoW - Steelheart

Steelheart
Author - Brandon Sanderson
Series- Reckoners #1
Genre  - High Fantasy
Pages - 384

Description from Goodreads

There are no heroes.

Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.

But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills.

Nobody fights the Epics... nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.

And David wants in. He wants Steelheart—the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David's father. For years, like the Reckoners, David's been studying, and planning—and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

He's seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.

Why?

Well, It sounds awesome! Sanderson is praised for his other books and I want to know what all the hype is about.

Top Ten Tuesday

Top 10 unique character names in books

1. Zhukora - I fell in love with this name from the moment I heard it. It is the perfect bad guy name. I even have taken it for my MMO name.

2. EBN-Reyoz-X - or EBN for short. It is so scifi!

3. Ten Ox - Old chinese names can be fun at times but some are just odd. Who wants to be called Ten Ox? I guess Oxen are strong so it could be a male pride thing.

4. Drizzt Do'Urden - I pronounced his name wrong for years. It is actually pronounced Drisst (like Mist) One of my favorite characters ever.

5. Menolly - It is just an awesome name and I would name a pet after her.

6. Magiere - It sounds so ... noble and royal.

7. Sirantha - Another scifi name, where the authors come up with these I do not know but I love them.

8. Snow Flower - I adore names like this, intimate objects can make the best names. It is so pretty.

9. Aliizsa - I always find epic fantasy novels to have the best unique names.

10. Breunor Battlehammer - Dwarfs. 'nuff said.

The Eternity Cure
Author - Julie Kagawa
Series - Blood of Eden #2
Genre - YA Paranormal
Pages - 434

Description from Goodreads

Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.

The race for the cure for rabidism continues in the second installment of the Blood of Eden series. Allie is now on two missions, find her sire Kanin and find a cure for the rabidism, but there are hurdles to overcome. Along with the psychotic vampire Sarren, the rabids, the vampire princes and other enemies there are new ones: The Bleeders.

The Bleeders are humans affected with the red lung disease, a disease that turns them into crazed, raveing maniacs that have lost their minds and most of their skin (ew). They don’t feel pain and they will go after you until you or they are dead.

Allie is not alone in these missions however, she has Jackal though not the best companion he is her blood brother and to find Kanin and the cure she will need him. She also has Zeke, the human she has found herself falling for. He has changed from The Immortal Rules, he is no longer a meek skinny boy, he is now a warrior, armed to the teeth and out for blood.

I enjoyed The Eternity Cure almost as well as The Immortal Rules. There is some action, some romance this time around and tons of blood and gore. Some of Allies actions and reactions I could have done without but she is just new to the vampire scene. I really liked Jackal this time around, yes he is still a jerk and is always pushing peoples buttons but when it comes down to it he is a good person to have around.

So if you enjoyed The Immortal Rules I certainly think you will enjoy the Eternity Cure.

Daylighters
Author - Rachel Caine
Series - Morganville Vampires #15
Genre - Ya paranormal
Pages - NA
Release Date - November 5th 2013

Description from Goodreads

Something drastic has happened in Morganville while Claire and her friends were away. The town looks cleaner and happier than they’ve ever seen it before, but when their incoming group is arrested and separated—vampires from humans—they realize that the changes definitely aren’t for the better.

It seems that an organization called the Daylight Foundation has offered the population of Morganville something they’ve never had: hope of a vampire-free future. And while it sounds like salvation—even for the vampires themselves—the truth is far more sinister and deadly.

Now, Claire, Shane and Eve need to find a way to break their friends out of Daylighter custody, before the vampires of Morganville meet their untimely end…

Why? I ADORE the Morganville Vampires books, I do not read YA that much anymore but it is one series I have been keeping up with. The cover is also one of my favorites to date.

Turn- Offs you encounter while reading.

Love Triangles! Really I can not stand them, choose one guy and stop being so selfish. Unless of course all three agree to the triangle like in the Otherworld series by Yasmine Galenorn. However, this rarely happens.

Love at first sight. I understand it CAN happen but it is so rare in the real world that in book world you just kind of go "ugh" at it.

Goth Bashing. Yes I am a goth and yes I do get annoyed at the stereotypical assumptions that we are bad, we do drugs, smell, steal, etc..etc.. Not all of us are delinquents and not all of us wear the black makeup (okay i wear the clothes..) or dye our hair. I think the only one I have seen in books that does not match these descriptions is Eve from Morganville Vampires..

Unnecessarily long books. Now do not get me wrong, I love my epic fantasies but sometimes there are just pages and pages of descriptions or whole scenes that just do not do anything for the book and thus do not need to be there!

My BIGGEST - Puppy pain. I absolutely hate it when a dog dies in a book or gets hurt. I have actually stopped reading a book because of this (the dog died.. or rather was torn apart) and I cried. Why the violence against dogs? Why not cats (sorry cat people) It just makes me so incredibly sad and I have to hug my dog afterwards.

Okay those are my top annoyances and turn-offs to books. what are yours?
