Mozarts Blood
Marley, a musician and writer, has produced a stunning drama inspired by the life of Teresa Saporiti, the first Donna Anna. Teresa, an aspiring singer, was turned into a vampire by a Czech aristocrat. As bad as the need for blood are the memories of the victims, which remain with the taker. Teresa has learned to deal with them, but Mozart, whom the baroness bit at the same time, never did and died painfully because he could not bring himself to satisfy the unnatural thirst. In San Francisco in 1906, Teresa meets Ugo, a Silician werewolf with a very curious past of his own. They become partners, guarding each other's backs. In twenty-first-century Milan, an egoistic baritone thinks he has figured out Teresa's secret and abducts Ugo to obtain the blood that holds Mozart's memories.

Title - Prophecy of the Sisters
Author  - Michelle Zink
Genre - YA/Historical Fiction
Pages  343
Description (from back of book)
Twin sisters Lia and Alice Milthorpe have just become orphans. The have also become enemys.
As they discover thir roles in a prphecy that has turned generations of sisters against each other, they find
themselvs entangled in a mystery that involves a tattoo-like mark, thier parents' deaths, a boy, a bok, and a lifetime of secrets

Lia and Alice don't know whom they can trust. They just know they can't trust each other

Thoughts
First off, I  don't read alot of historical fiction, i find it often bland but this was a book i really got into!
It is set in the 1800s when corsets and modesty reigned, and everything wasnt so dependent on technology.
Enter Lia and Alice, two girls who have lost thier mother nd more recently thier father, they are wealthy and privilaged. Alice is the brave, headstrong one while Lia is more bookish and meek. You'll initially like them both, as well as other cast members such as thier little brother Henry, thier aunt Victoria and thier assortmnt of friends.

As the book progresses you will learn about the prophecy that has been pushed upon the sisters through generations of Milthorps. It states that one is the gate and one is the guardian. The gate opens the way for Samael (yes THE Samael, the fallen angel from the bible) and his army, who would sew chaos and deah and fear upon the worl. The guardian is one who can stop that from happening.

The story was very well written, some words were a bit odd and i had to use my Kindles dictonary to look them up but it wasnt a big operation. There are some very nice twists and turns in the story and some parts i caught myself crying and feeling some pretty strong emotions.

The cover of the books is perfect, showing Alice and Lia well, though i could have sworm they said Alices' eyes were green and not blue..

Look out for Guardian of the Gate, the next installment of the trilogy, hitting shelves and kindles August 1st!

Title - 13 to Life
Author - Shannon Delany
Genre - YA/Fiction
Pages - 308
Description (from back of book)
Everything about Jessica Gillmansen's life changed when her mother died.
Now even her hometown of Junction is changing. Mysterious dark things are happening.
All Jessie wants is to avoid more change. but while showing a hot new guy around Junciton High, she's about to discover a whole new type of hange. Pietr Rusakova is more than good looks and a fascinatig secret - he's a guy with a dangerous secret. And his very existence is sure to bring big trouble to Jessie's smal town. t seems change is the one thing Jessie can't avoid

Thoughts
13 to  life is about a farmgirl named Jessie, a typical high school student whos life becomes anything then typical. Sure she has to deal with frends (one of whom has a rather surprizing past.) teachures and popular girls. Lets not forget Pietr, the hot russian guy who has come to Junction.
The book was pretty good, the pacing was a little slow, you wil have to read all the way to chapter 28 (of 29)to find out about Pietrs secret (though there is quite a bit of forshadowing, so youll probably guess it beforehand)

The charactors are well written out, jessie is brave and smart and not selfish. she puts others before heself and that is refreshing (well at the begining she was a bit peevd at having to show Peitr around) Her friends are likeable as well, you may change your mind later on but i thouroughl enjoyed them. The writing style is simple an easy, it has its own charm and keeps you engaged into the story.

13 to lfe's cover is simple, and mysterious, i thnk it fits in well. you cn clearly see its jessie and Pietr on the front. Keep a lookout for Secrets and Shadows coming Feb 2011!
