Description form Goodreads

When he was nine, he watched as his mother and brother were killed before him. At thirteen, he led a band of bloodthirsty thugs. By fifteen, he intends to be king...

It's time for Prince Honorous Jorg Ancrath to return to the castle he turned his back on, to take what's rightfully his. Since the day he hung pinned on the thorns of a briar patch and watched Count Renar's men slaughter his mother and young brother, Jorg has been driven to vent his rage. Life and death are no more than a game to him--and he has nothing left to lose. But treachery awaits him in his father's castle. Treachery and dark magic. No matter how fierce his will, can one young man conquer enemies with power beyond his imagining?

Prince Jorg is on a mission of revenge. Revenge for his fallen mother and brother who were killed in front of his eyes at the young age of six. Ever since he walked out on his princely life at age ten he has been running with a band of sell swords (his ‘brothers’) and at fourteen he is the leader.

The story was a good one and Jorg was a very... violent main character, defiantly something I am not used to. I mean VERY violent, there is not a person he doesn’t imagine killing or dissecting or just tearing apart. This was a nice change but you would think he would want some allies! Speaking of allies, his brothers are a rough group but each have good personalities.

The book toggles between the present and the past four years of the sell-sword life, bringing in his past and letting us really feel who he is. It also at the end of each chapter has little snippets giving us more info on his brothers and a few tidbits of other things as well, I enjoyed this and though it a great addition.

The ending was rather good, it defiantly set up well for the second book in the series. The cover is nice as well, the guy does look fourteen and it has drama to it. All in all a satisfactory novel and one I will continue the series on.

Nice review! Hadn't heard of this one, but I'm hesitant to read it because he's such a violent character. I do like the sound of him and his "brothers" though!
